This is the first book of the series. In this book, Pants meets a monster named Growlie. Pants had always heard that Growlie was a scary monster from a nearby forest who hurt little boys and girls. But, since Pants isn't the kind of girl who believes everything she hears, she decided to investigate for herself. She discovered that Growlie wasn't really a scary monster who hurt little boys and girls. Instead, he was just a lonely monster who needed a friend. Pants demonstrates courage and compassion as she ventures into the forest to meet and confront Growlie. In doing so, she turns a scary monster into good friend.

Pants Makes The Swim Team

In this book, Pants is cut from the swim team. But Pants isn't the kind of girl who gives up. Instead, she asks the coach if she can practice with the team so she'll be ready for the next season. Pants practices harder than any other swimmer on the team. She is always the first in the pool at the beginning of practice and the last one out of the pool at the end of practice. The coach is so impressed with her determination that he lets Pants compete with the team in the first meet. She competes and wins!

Pants And The Bully

After watching the class bully, Icky, pick on her friend, Johnny, Pants decides to confront him. At first she considers bringing Growlie to school to scare Icky. But, after talking to her dad, she realizes that bringing Growlie to school would make HER the bully. Pants would never be a bully. So, instead she decides to persuade the class to stand-up to Icky together. They all agree, they won't sit with Icky at lunch or play with him at recess until he starts being nicer. It works! By the end of the story, Icky becomes a nice boy and one of Pants' good friends.

Pants Feeds The Poor

While Pants and her dad are walking in the city, they see a hungry man sitting beside the road. Pants' dad explains to Pants that the man probably doesn't have any money or food, and that there are people like him all over town. Pants feels sad for the man. She realizes that while she has a family, a home, food, and anything she needs, the man sitting beside the road has nothing. She decides to persuade her whole school to bring in food, one day at a time, so that the hungry man will be able to eat for a whole year. Her plan works and the hungry man eats like a king.

Pants Builds A Business

After Pants succeeded in persuading her school to bring food so that a hungry man could eat for a whole year, Pants began to think about what the man would do at the end of the year. He would be hungry again. Many other poor people would be hungry as well. So, Pants decided to build a business to make enough money to feed the poor and even build them homes of their very own. She works with her mom and dad, brother and sister, and Growlie to make colorful, fun pants and sell them all over town.
